I usually don’t get to see cool shit like this up close but, it would seem that an osprey decided to stop next door for a little dinner. Unfortunately the sun sets quick this time of year and I had to run for my camera, tripod, (find some new batteries!!) so I only got a couple shots of him (her?) But they came out pretty cool.
It was kind of hard getting these shots. First I had to focus (or my camera did) through the screen. They put too many brains on these cameras and they start thinking for themselves. You’d be surprised, but a lens will say “oh what’s this wire mesh right in front of me. Maybe I’ll focus on it!” But a few tweaks and a bit of swearing and I finally got it.
Problem is as the sun set, my shutter got slower and I had to put the camera on a delay so it wouldn’t jiggle when I pressed the button. Made for a bit of a crapshoot getting him/her to look my way.
Anyway, it was kind of a thrill for me. I heard its call for about an hour and a half, so that’s burned in my memory. If it ever comes back during the day, I’ll be sure to have my camera nearby.
